Curious Builder Collective Season 1: That’s A Wrap!
As the Curious Builder Collective wraps up our inaugural season, it’s the perfect moment to reflect on the journey that brought together a unique community of builders, designers, and architects. From insightful discussions to valuable networking, each event of 2024 paved the way for a remarkable learning experience.
The October Builder Event
The final event of the year was a perfect finale to an incredible season. Tiff from Fierce Decorum led the discussion on the client experience. She emphasized the importance of documenting every step of client interaction—awareness and discovery, onboarding, design and construction, and finally, offboarding and testimonials. A carefully crafted 25-page guide helped attendees drill down into each phase.
It was such a valuable experience. We were able to understand the value of mapping out processes that often exist instinctively but benefit from being documented for consistency and growth. It was all about getting it out of your head and onto paper. By isolating our process, we can onboard new team members, replace ourselves when needed, and collectively identify areas for improvement. A massive win for the building community of industry pros!
From Our Sponsor
This event was sponsored and hosted by industry leader Mike Weaver of Emser Tile, a major partner for the collective.
In his own words: “The Collective events create a unique space for industry leaders to collaborate, share insights, and tackle common challenges in a non-competitive environment. We’re proud to sponsor the Curious Collective, as it aligns with our mission to better understand and serve our customers while fostering meaningful connections within the industry. These events consistently inspire growth, authenticity, and innovation, making them an invaluable resource for all involved."
Wrapping Up 2024
The Curious Builder Collective has grown rapidly since our 2024 launch. From a single open forum to a structured, multi-state collective with groups for builders, designers, and architects, this year's explosive growth has been so much fun! It’s incredibly inspiring to see builders choose collaboration over competition.
Every event had its stand-out moments, but one of my favorites was the lunch we had together after the second event. That was when conversation first sparked with Julia Miller from Yond Interiors about a possible designer collective. Realizing that there may be even more people who would be excited to be a part of a collective was such an exciting moment for all of us!
What’s in Store for 2025
The collective's success has inspired plans to expand into new markets, including Atlanta, Austin, and Phoenix, with additional locations under consideration. The roadmap for 2025, available on the website, outlines all of our upcoming topics and future events, like sales and marketing, hiring, incorporating AI, and special gatherings like Sauna Camp in January and Boot Camp later in the year.
The Curious Builder Collective
The Curious Builder Collective's unique approach is far from a typical networking group. The focus is on organic, group-driven discussions, enriched by specialists but driven by collective brainstorming. Each session is documented with professional photography and videography, with comprehensive notes archived online for future reference—making it an invaluable resource for all members. It’s also just a lot of fun!
Why Join The Curious Builder Collective?
Simply put, the collective acts as a beehive of ideas and resources, where each builder contributes and benefits from shared knowledge. It’s a thriving, dynamic network, fueled by diverse perspectives—from seasoned professionals to builders with just a few years in the field. For those looking to elevate their business, the Curious Collective is rocket fuel, providing a platform to learn, share, and grow together!
As we close the chapter on a stellar first season, we are so thankful for every builder, sponsor, and community member who helped make it a success.
The journey is only beginning, and season two is looking bright!
